In this picture Akamaru is large enough for Kiba to ride on his back.
When the Naruto series started Kiba carried Akamaru around in his jacket or even on his head because he was a lot smaller!

This is a really cute picture of Kiba and his ninja dog, Akamaru.
Akamaru is very helpful to Kiba because he has a strong sense of smell and hearing and can detect others chakra levels!
